Am I even eligible?

No "serious illness"? You may still qualify

Chronic back pain Insomnia Anxiety Migraines Post-injury pain Digestive issues

Conditions like these are assessed on their merits by doctors in Greece. The examples above are illustrative — they are not an eligibility list and not a promise of approval. The decision is a medical one and rests with a licensed Greek specialist alone, and under Greek law medical cannabis is considered where conventional treatments have proved ineffective, unsuitable or intolerable. If the doctor does not approve, you receive a full refund.

Where it works

The prescription is valid across Greece — not only in Athens

It is digital, and valid at any licensed pharmacy in the country. One prescription covers a whole island-hopping route, for up to 30 days from issue.

⚠️ Thinking of flying in with your own cannabis? Don't.

Even if you hold a valid medical cannabis licence at home — it is not valid in Greece. Bringing cannabis into Greece without prior authorisation from the Greek National Organization for Medicines (EOF) is prohibited, and the trouble can start at customs.

The simple, lawful route: a referral to a licensed Greek doctor. We coordinate the whole process — digitally, from your phone. Want the details? FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is medical cannabis legal in Greece?

Yes. Legal since 2017, and since February 2024 licensed pharmacies dispense medical cannabis products with a doctor's prescription. Use without a prescription remains illegal — we coordinate the referral to the doctor and the entire administrative process. Official source: the Greek National Organization for Medicines (EOF).

Do I need an existing cannabis license from my home country?

No. The process is entirely Greek. Even if you've never held a cannabis license anywhere, you may qualify — the Greek doctor makes a fresh, independent assessment based on your questionnaire.

How long does it take?

The questionnaire — about 3 minutes. The doctor's review — up to an hour during working hours on VIP, up to 24 hours on Fast, and one to two weeks on Basic. Tip: fill it in before your flight and land with a prescription ready.

Can I fly into Greece with my own cannabis?

Strongly not recommended. Foreign licenses and prescriptions are not valid in Greece, and importing cannabis without prior authorization from the Greek regulator is prohibited. The legal, simple path: a local prescription from a licensed Greek doctor — and we coordinate the whole process.

I don't have a "serious illness" — do I stand a chance?

Possibly. Doctors in Greece do assess conditions such as chronic pain, sleep disorders and anxiety. But the decision is a medical one: it rests with a licensed Greek specialist, and under Greek law medical cannabis is considered where conventional treatments have proved ineffective, unsuitable or intolerable. This is not a promise of approval — and if the doctor does not approve, the service fee is refunded in full.

What if the doctor doesn't approve me?

The service fee is charged while your request is submitted, before the doctor decides — but if the doctor does not approve, the full amount you paid is refunded to you (100%), with no cancellation fee. You don't risk a single shekel. Full details in our cancellations & refunds policy.

Is the prescription valid only in Athens?

It's valid everywhere in Greece. The prescription is digital and accepted at any licensed pharmacy — Athens, Thessaloniki, Crete, Rhodes, Kos, Santorini, Mykonos and Corfu. Islands included.

How much does the cannabis itself cost at the pharmacy?

The price is set by the pharmacy and is outside our control. Today it typically ranges from about 9 to 15 euros per gram — depending on the THC concentration, the product and the pharmacy, and it may change. Payment is made directly at the pharmacy. Our service fee (169–349 ILS, one-time, by track) covers coordinating the doctor referral, submitting the questionnaire, and support throughout.

What concentrations and quantities can I get on the prescription?

The choice is not the patient's — it is the doctor's. Products marketed at Greek pharmacies come in various THC concentrations and pack sizes; the figures commonly seen today (concentrations roughly between 9% and 31%, in 5g or 10g packs) are illustrative only and may vary between pharmacies and over time. The licensed doctor determines the concentration, quantity and dosage appropriate to your condition, subject to the limits of Greek regulation.

Can I take products back home after the trip?

No. Flat no. The prescription and the products are legal in Greece only — taking cannabis across borders is a criminal offense, and the same applies to layover countries and airline rules. What's bought in Greece, stays in Greece. Complying with these laws is your sole responsibility — see Section 6 of the terms of use.

What happens to my medical information?

Your information (including your prescription and identity documents) is handled by the CanaFlight team solely to pass it to the licensed doctor in Greece and to review your request. It is not sold, not shared with third parties for marketing purposes, and is retained only for as long as necessary. Full details in our privacy policy.

Are you doctors?

No, and we don't claim to be. We are a coordination and administrative support service: we don't issue prescriptions, sell products, or give medical advice. Every medical decision rests solely with a licensed doctor in Greece.
